February Favorites!

It's the last day of February, which only means two things. One: my parents' wedding anniversary and two: time for a list of my February favorites! I'm going to show you what I've been wearing, grabbing for, tuning in to, and listening to all through the month of February. Let's get started!

1.   Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette

I've been a follower of Urban Decay's Naked palettes for quite a while, and my excitement when I heard a new palette would be coming out in rose tones can not be put in words. I love all the shades and wear them on an almost daily basis. ($52 at Sephora)

2.   Gracie Gold

My family loves the Olympics. Every two years we all pile up on the couch and cheer on our favorites. As far as winter Olympics go, my favorite event to watch is the ice dancing/figure skating. Being a dancer I can greatly appreciate all the hard work that goes into going out there and performing. This year I’ve become obsessed with little miss Gracie Gold. At only 18, our national champion showed her worth in Sochi, placing 4th in the ladies singles event. Not only is she an amazing skater, she’s gorgeous and so humble. If you haven’t seen her skate, check out her routine from Sochi here.

3.   The Great Gatsby

Gatsby may be my all-time second favorite book (my first here) but in rereading it more recently, I just love it even more. Everything about the roaring twenties fascinates me; the style, the fashion, the air, the art, the whole feel of it.  I dream of flapper dresses and late nights at the West Egg, and Gatsby gives an investigation into that life while telling a true love story.

4.   benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara

Oh my goodness this mascara. Mascara is my guilty pleasure and I tend to indulge on Guerlain and other brands that put me way out of pocket. At only $10 for the long-lasting small size, this does more than its job. With little time in the morning and virtually flat lashes, this is a time saver. I don’t have to curl my lashes and it gives insane volume. I will definitely be repurchasing this great mascara. ($10 at Sephora)

5.   The Hunt

Ever found an adorable dress on Pinterest, clicked on it, and only gotten a blog post in a language you can’t read? No? Just me? Well, look no further than The Hunt. On this oh-so-helpful website, you can post images of that dress or those new shoes you’re coveting, and a little bit later someone has found it for you! The community is great and quick to find your items. You can also help other people find what they’re looking for and follow hunts for items others are on the lookout for. Follow me on The Hunt here!

6.   Leopard Print Dress from Banana Republic

And in this picture I realize just how tall I am

Outlets are the best, you know? And on my yearly trip up to Ohio with my friend Meredith and our moms, we found this amazing dress at Banana for 85% off. Yes you read that correctly. It’s comfortable and fits well, and even better, IT HAS POCKETS. I’ve worn it to all kinds of events and can be dressed up or down to fit any occasion. I see a long life ahead for this dress.

7.   Rose Gold Watch from Michael Kors.

After only three months, I finally got around to getting links taken out of my rose gold watch. I’ve already worn it quite a few times and I love it. It’s a lot simpler than most of my watches and gives me contrast. Rose gold is one of my favorite trends of the moment and this watch lets me tie that in to almost any outfit.

8.   Pink Camelbak Eddy

We all know we should drink 8 8-oz glasses of water per day. But with school and work and responsibilities that can get difficult. My camelbak has encouraged me to refill and drink more water daily, not to mention my friendly Vineyard Vines whale cheering me on. You can find these at any sporting goods store but I got mine at Dick's.

9.   BEYONCÉ

So I may be a little late to the party, but I am absolutely LOVING Beyoncé's new album. There are so many good songs for anything from workouts to studying to just jamming out. My top tracks are Partition, Drunk in Love, and Flawless. This is her visual album as well, which means every song has an accompanying video. Her artistry really shows through and we see many sides of Queen B. Check it out here if you haven't already!

10.   Lilly Pulitzer Shoreline Tote in NYC

This tote combines quite possibly my two favorite things: Lilly Pulitzer and New York City. With images of the Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Rock Center, and many more, this bag reminds me of my favorite spots in my favorite city. And it’s big enough to hold whatever I stuff in it. Lilly’s Shoreline Totes serve as perfect book bags, rehearsal bags, and much more.

I hope you’ve enjoyed and been inspired by my favorites of this month. What did you make the most of this month? Let me know below!

Getting It Together + OOTD

Hey everyone! I've only been here two weeks, but I've already learned how much responsibility is required to maintain a blog. Write posts, reply to comments, reach out to fellow bloggers, make your site all pretty, the whole nine yards. But I have loved it and I plan on staying for the long run. When I started I was planning on starting with a Monday/Friday post schedule, until I realized how difficult that is. Mondays are so blah, it's hard to get inspiration, not to mention that Monday is my busiest day of the week. So I plan to continue on Fridays but make one post early in the week, somewhere Monday-Wednesday. And we'll see what the future brings.
Now a little OOTD for y'all. Facing a bit of a Wednesday lull today but I decided to brighten it up with a subtle pop of mint. I'm wearing a grey Gap sweater with my favorite AE jeans and brown riding boots.

On top I'm wearing my (mom's) mint J.Crew statement necklace. Mint is my favorite color of the moment and subtle touches like this complete an outfit.

Guys I promise I own more than one watch. But I am of course wearing my gold Fossil watch with a few gold bangles.

I'm loving the half-up/half-down look right now so I paired it with one of my all-time favorite classics: tortoise. This tortoise barrette from J.Crew just pulled the look together.

This look required almost no effort and was easy to put together on a busy morning. With simple makeup and no-fuss hair I got out the door just in time to catch my bus. What tricks do you use to get out the door in time? Have a great day lovelies!

Look Out, It's the Lilly Jeep!

After looking forward to it for a month, it’s finally here! The Lilly Pulitzer Jeep made its stop in Lexington on Wednesday and of course I had to come see it. I left immediately after school and headed straight to The Peppermint Palm.

We were just a little excited

What I wore: Blue Chevron Top from Everly, classic American Eagle skinnies, my black riding boots, key necklace, and of course my gold Fossil watch.

(picture from the Lilly Pulitzer Twitter page)

Of course I freaked out as soon as we pulled up and I saw the Jeep. I practically ran out of the car and gawked at the Jeep for a good five minutes. And into the store we went. Unfortunately I was a bad little blogger and forgot to take pictures inside the actual store...Thankfully TOPS did

Inside there were cute promotional water bottles and candy bags along with cupcakes and pink and green macarons. Representatives handed out mini coin purses and gave information to potential college internship recruits. Most of the store was on a major sale which I just had to take advantage of. I got an insulated cooler bag in the print Beach Rose.

All of the representatives were so sweet and helpful (I mean, I would be that happy too if I was working for Lilly Pulitzer!) and made the experience so much more fun. The spring/summer collection preview just made me look forward to the warm summer months. To sum it up, expect seersucker, bright colors, ADORABLE shorts and much more.

Honk and Beep for the Lilly Jeep! Thanks to my fellow
blogger Justina for practically picking out my outfit for me.

I leave you with my favorite quote from Lilly Pulitzer herself:

Have a great day y'all!

More About Me

Now that I’ve introduced y’all to my blog, time to introduce you to myself a little more!
I’m a high school freshman in Lexington and I’ve lived here my entire life. I was
Braving the cold at Commonwealth
last fall
raised on Kentucky football and have been going to games since I was three. It’s in my blood and when fall comes around I live for SEC football. My family considers the tailgating to be just as (if not more) important than the game and we go all out.
My exposure to prep came at a young age. Monogrammed bows were forced into my hair and seersucker rompers pulled over my head. I look back and I love it all, the three-year-old me not so much. But little did she know she would grow up to want those monograms on everything.
I have two labs, a chocolate named Claiborne and a yellow named Cawood, and a little sister named Avery who’s just as prep-sessed as I am. The 6½-year age difference can be a pain some most of the time, but at the end of the day she’s my little sister and I love her.
My dance family
I’ve been a competitive dancer since I was 7 and it takes up most of my life. My second family is at the dance studio and I love traveling and performing with these girls. We’ve been all over, most recently in New Orleans this summer. We are all one family and depend on each other for any and everything.
I love my southern roots but I dream of NYC. Broadway is my passion and I would love to be on that stage one day. New York became my true home the first time I stepped off the plane, and I live for the rare weekends in the city.
And there you have it! Just a little more about me. I look forward to getting to know all of you in this journey!

Valentine's Day OOTD

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my lovelies! Thought I’d share my OOTD with you all!

I’m in love with this outfit and it’s perfect for our bipolar Lexington weather. A simple gingham shirt, a vest, jeans, riding boots, and a statement necklace are just a few basics that can come together for a really good look.

Over my shirt I wore my (mom's) white Columbia omni-heat vest to keep me warm when walking to and from the bus stop, but I ended up keeping it on almost all day.
I paired a navy gingham J. Crew button up with a pink statement necklace (also from J. Crew) for a pop of Valentine's day pink.

Of course, my trusty gold Fossil watch.
Finished up with some black Forever 21 jeans and my black riding boots.

I hope you've been inspired with a cute outfit you can put together with all your basics. Have a wonderful Valentine's day y'all!
