March Favorites!

It's the last weekend in March and you know what that means; it's time for my monthly favorites! March has been a whirlwind with tests, papers, Spring Break plans and more, but I've been making it a little easier with these ten items.

1. Nike Free 5.0+ Running Shoes

I’ve been trying to get to the gym as much as I can recently to help get ready for spring break. I love these shoes and they fit really well, this coming from someone who has struggled fitting into most running shoes.

2. Pinterest Explore

I'm already a Pinterest addict, but this has kept me on the site even more. I'm loving this new feature from Pinterest. If you haven’t used it, Pinterest Explore pulls interests based on what you pin and lets you view things in that category. This has really helped me when I want to view pins on a certain topic and pin from there.

3. Chambray Shirts

We all know that jeans go with nearly anything, but don't we need a versatile top piece as well? I’ve been wearing chambray button ups very often recently with the winter-to-spring transition. They can be, as you know I love, dressed up or down and can be paired with all kinds of jewelry.

4. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with this movie, and thank the lord it's on Netflix. I’ve been watching it so much recently and it has easily become my favorite movie. Audrey Hepburn is the definition of class, and makes me want to throw my hair in a French twist and stroll down Fifth.

5. Wild Eggs

Lexingtonians- this is a must. This new breakfast restaurant in Palomar Center is worth the wait, and oh, is it a wait! Since it’s brand new, the restaurant has at least an hour wait most of the time. If you can stand it, you’re in for a treat. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and Wild Eggs did not disappoint. Try the hot chocolate!

6. Dutch Braids

I talked about Dutch braids in my morning rush post “I Woke Up (Ten Minutes Late…) Like Dis” but I’ve been wearing these whenever I’m having a lazy hair day. They're super easy to throw up and perfect for those days you want to look cute but stay laid back.

7. Ballet Flats

Right now Lexington is in the ugly winter-to-spring stage and it’s made our weather unpredictable. It’s too early for sandals and too late for boots. Perfect time to bring out the ballet flats. I'm loving neutrals right now but I hope to get some fun colors when spring comes around.

8. Coach Alligator Wristlet

I’ve been on the go a lot lately, from events to concerts to shows and more. Taking my whole purse is just a hassle and more to carry. This wristlet is perfect for days like that, but is nicer for less casual events. And the nude color goes with almost any outfit.

9. Vineyard Vines Hat

Have I only had this hat for less than a week? Yes. Have I already worn it at least twice? Yes. I’m constantly on the go with little time to master the beast that is my hair. This navy hat from Vineyard Vines helps me hide the mess but is also cute. I’m a “porcelain beauty” as Bobbi Brown says and I need anything I can to shade my pale face, and I’ve never been able to find cute hats. I love this one and it will definitely be making the trip to Hilton Head.

10. MAC Viva Glam Lipstick in V

I've always been a gloss-over-stick girl, but when I saw this shade, I loved it. MAC describes it as "a pure neutral pink with a delicious Lustre finish." This neutral pink with a little shimmer is perfect for any occasion and has been my go to for the month of March.

Alright, you know the drill. Tell me your favorites below!

Spring Break Packing

Faced with a case of writer’s block this week, I did what anyone would do and turned to Pinterest for inspiration. I found all my friends pinning about spring break essentials and packing for their warm weather excursions, so I thought I’d take my own spin on it.

The Essentials
There are a few things that without a doubt are needed for any spring vacation. These things are important to pack before you even begin to plan out your outfits because of their versatility with most any outfit.

1. A denim jacket
Spring weather can be unpredictable when traveling. Having an easy denim jacket allows for any outfit to adapt to colder temperatures.

2. Solid Color Tees
With printed shorts popping up all over, you have to counterbalance with solid colors on top. A solid v-neck is perfect for layering and keeping it simple with standout jewelry and bottoms.

3. One pair of versatile sandals
Whether it’s the beach or a stay-cation, sandals that can go with any outfit are a must. A neutral pair can be dressed up or down and works from beach mornings to evening dinners.

These are just three basic pieces you absolutely must have for any getaway. But as we all know, this isn’t just any getaway. This is spring break, only a preview of your summer. Make sure to show that through what you wear. Bright colors, sunnies, croakies, Jacks, all the works. Pack these but be wary of what you'll be doing and the weather. Plan for the unexpected but explore new outfit combinations. Worried about overpacking? Afraid you'll forget something?  Check out some do's and don't's of packing for any vacation.

DO plan your outfits when packing. Keep in mind what you plan on doing and what's appropriate for each situation.
DON'T overpack toiletries. While the necessities are fine, makeup and hair products aren't needed as much, especially when on a beach vacation.
DO pack more than you think you need, but not necessarily. Fewer dresses, more swimsuits. More tees, fewer accessories.
DON'T fret over jewelry. Bring a few pieces that go with many outfits and one or two trusty pairs of earrings.

My biggest do? Express yourself and show your style through everything you pack. Don't overdo it and prepare to make the most of your break!

I Woke Up (Ten minutes late...) Like Dis

I’d like to start by apologizing for my lack of posts this week. Real life and high school has caught up with me and I’ve been so busy with school and dance that I have had little time to even get ready in the morning. So today I’m bringing you an easy outfit for someone like me with little time in the morning and giving you tips for quick and easy makeup.

I started this outfit with my easy basics, black leggings, nude flats, and a denim shirt. These are all things you can easily slip on in the morning that require little effort I love denim shirts and the ability to dress them up or down. With this look I added a teal infinity scarf for a pop of color. My all-time must have, my pearl earrings, added a little charm to a laid back outfit.

Watches are a daily must have for me to keep time and check the date when you're on the go. My silver Fossil watch paired with a classic Pandora charm bracelet added a little bling to this outfit.

For my hair I did a take on a Dutch braid or reverse French braid as some call it. But my nine-year-old sister has been referring to it as the Elsa braid every day.  It looks really neat with hair like mine that has low and highlights.

While I’m no beauty guru, I love doing my makeup and trying out new things. However when you’re in a morning rush there’s not much room for a full face. So I use a few easy tricks to speed up my makeup. First off, I skip the foundation and go straight for the powder. It takes less time and effort but still mattes and gives sheer coverage. When it comes to eyeshadow I sadly set my palettes to the side and pull out a neutral shadow stick like this one from Sephora in Taupe. Add some pencil liner and skip the eyelash curler with a curling mascara. Sweep on a pink gloss (I’m loving this one) to pull it all together.

I type this post sipping on my morning smoothie on my bus hoping that some of my tips can help you get out the door. But of course, we all have our flaws and I have mornings where I rush around like a maniac panicking to get out the door in time. Help a girl out? Give me some of your tips below.

Spring Break Wishlist

I was happy to learn yesterday that my sister and I will be spending the latter half of my spring break in one of my favorite vacation spots: Hilton Head Island! I spend my summers there nearly every year growing up with my whole family. We've found our little family spots we love and the Hilton Head traditions have grown every year. And spring break at the beach means a new warm-weather wardrobe. If you follow me on Pinterest you know that I've been lusting over summer styles for the last month and now I have an excuse to shop for weather that's not snowy and below freezing every day. Take a look at what I'm looking forward to with warmer weather in sight.

1. JACKS

I haven’t owned a pair since I was three or four, and even those were knock-offs, but I love the look of these shoes. Jack Rogers sandals are so versatile and can be dressed up or down, whether a night out to Salty Dog Cafe or a walk on the beach. I’ve been lusting over these sandals for months on Pinterest, and now I just might have an excuse to get a pair.

2. Lilly Pulitzer Callahan Shorts.

I spotted these at the Lilly Pulitzer event last month and have wanted them since. The name of the print is Southern Charm, c’mon. This print is so versatile and could be paired with so much, and the slightly longer inseam lets a tall girl like me wear cute shorts without too much scandal.

3. Ray Ban Wayfarers

Anyone who knows me knows I live in wayfarers. My prescription glasses and all my sunglasses are this style and I love the way they look. And I’ll be needing them with that island sun. They go perfectly with…

4. Croakies, croakies, more croakies

I’ve never been one to put glasses on my head, don’t need a dent in my hair! With three different pairs in my closet, I switch them out almost daily. Monograms, Lilly, VV, this adorable seersucker bow pair. I’ll have these on all throughout my trip back to HHI.

5. Marley Lilly Monogrammed Bandeau Swim Top

Hilton Head's forecast may not be quite warm enough for lying out on the beach, but a girl can dream. I love this top, and the monogram touch is perfection. With a ton of colors and different thread colors and fonts, Marley Lilly gets it right yet again.

Hopefully Hilton Head weather will bring a pleasant change from the icy streets of Lexington we slip and fall on walking to school (just me?) and bring more memories in one of my favorite places. As it gets closer to that lovely weekend I'll bring you more spring break posts; essentials, packing tips, and more. Anything you've been coveting in preparation for your SB excursions? Going anywhere boast-worthy? Let me know in the comments!

Snow Day Thoughts and Pin-spiration

Oh Lexington, with your ever-changing bipolar weather. Oscar night brought with it about 6 inches of snow, canceling Fayette County on Monday and Tuesday and pushing our current last day of school to June 10. Goodness gracious. But another day of snow meant another day of staying in our PJs and watching Frozen.

With all classes and extracurriculars canceled, I've been spending more time than I probably should on Netflix marathons and pinning sprees. Winter weather has me longing for spring break, and that's evident from my Pinterest. Take a look at some of the things I've been pinning lately.

I love me some Blair Waldorf, and this quote is a little daily reminder that you can be as perfect as Queen B without a Chuck Bass.

Wicked is my first love, my first Broadway show. It resides in the beautiful Gershwin Theatre in New York and continues to tell the story of Oz pre-Dorothy as it has for the last 10 years.

I have a need for this shirt. I love all of Southern Proper's tees, but this one is by far my favorite.

Oh my goodness. As an owner of a golden retriever/yellow lab mix, this little pup melts my heart.

I'm patiently waiting for my Bean Boots to arrive, but until that day I'll just pin about them. Love them shown with Marley Lilly's monogrammed bow bracelets.

I'll be silently praying for this winter weather to leave so I can bust out the shorts and Jacks. Until then, I'll stick to bundling up on my couch with Pinterest in hand. Go ahead and follow me here and let me know below what's been inspiring you during the multitude of snow and ice.
