Interview: Cathleen Slagle of Classy Cathleen

Unless you've been living under a rock to the blogging world, you've probably heard of Classy Cathleen, the blog run by Cathleen Slagle. She and I have been friends for a long time, so we thought it was about time for us to come together and do an interview! She's so sweet and I think y'all will love her as much as I do.

CLB: Hey Cathleen! I'm so excited to start this interview. First things first (I'm the real-est) tell me about your blog; how long you've been writing, why you started, etc.

CS: (Drop this and let the whole world feel it!) Classy Cathleen was started because of my love of writing, fashion, and well basically just writing! I started in early January of this year, and it has been an incredible experience so far, and I am so excited to continue on this journey. Basically, I blog about fashion and whatever I feel like writing about!

CLB: You write about fashion a lot, who or what are your biggest style influences?

CS: Hands down, Olivia Palermo. I've mentioned her in a couple posts in the past, but she is absolutely incredible, and can make anything and everything look perfect. Sarah Vickers and other various fashion blogs I follow via Bloglovin also inspire me.

CLB: I love Sarah Vickers! What other bloggers are you in to?

CS: You, of course! Also A Beautiful Mess, Michaela from The Monogrammed Midwesterner, Ellen from A Pop of Pink, Carrie from Carrie on Blogs, and Jamie from The Fashion Newcomer. Shannon of GBO Fashion is another long time favorite of mine.

CLB: Those are some of my favorites too! As far as blogging goes, how do you manage keeping a consistent posting schedule while keeping up with tests, projects, homework, all that craziness that comes with high school?

CS: I really don't... We have a and b days at my school and I have all easy classes on a days. On b days I have hard classes so instead of doing my homework I take a beak and work on things for the blog. My Saturday mornings are for blogging it's just part of my week. Sometimes early Sunday mornings before church. Basically I blog whenever I can. School obviously comes first.

CLB: I feel that, the balance with school and blogging can be the struggle. So you're from South Carolina, another southern girl like me. How do you define southern as more than just living where we live?

CS: Ooh.. This is a really good question! Basically always saying "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am" ; "yes sir" and "no sir", southern hospitality, etc. But being opinionated and sassy all at the same time! And Obviously the food and football I feel like us southerners know how to have a good time, and live life to the absolute fullest.

CLB: We do! It's in our blood and I love it. So let's talk about you. Family, pets, you know.

CS: Oh I love it too! Soo I have 3 dogs: Minnie & Merry (the twins) and Sparky who is older and blind. I have a family of 6 including me. The biggest thing that makes my family different from others is my older brothers autism. We like Disney world a lot.... Like we have a Mickey phone and waffle makers. And it's always hectic here with 4 kids and 3 dogs, but we make it work!

CLB: I think your situation with your brother is so neat, how has that inspired you and your family?

CS: Well for one thing.. We know that even when times are tough things can always get better. Sometimes things with Isaac get tough, but they always get better. It also has helped me treat everyone with respect no matter who they are.

CLB: Overcoming that adversity is so cool. So back to your fabulous blog. What's been your favorite part about blogging?

CS: Meeting new people, and writing of course! I love reading other blogs and posts.. Meeting new people from all over the place is a lot of fun too! But I've learned a whole lot about HTML and other stuff too.

CLB: What's one thing you wish you had known before you started blogging?

CS: Hmm this is tough! I wish I had known how much time, commitment, and work I would pour into it. When I say I put my heart and soul into my blog I truly mean it. But I also wish I had known just how many people I would meet and how many things I would learn.. If I had known that earlier, I would have started a blog a super long time ago!

CLB: Well thanks so much for this interview Cathleen!

We had so much fun doing this interview and getting to know each other a little better than we already did. Go check out her blog at Classy Cathleen and follow her on Twitter and Instagram!
